This former employment site is located within the City Fringe and adjoining the successful Hoxton Hotel, located on Great Eastern Street. The site also falls within the South Shoreditch Conservation Area. The proposal is for a new three / five storey building with 172 hotel bedrooms, plus a bar, restaurant and business centre which would form an annex to the Hoxton.
CMA secured approval for the development in December 2009 from the London Borough of Hackney. In order to ensure a successful outcome for the project, CMA had to tackle issues including employment floorspace, number of hotel proposals in the area, design and conservation considerations, sustainability, impact on amenity and parking / servicing.
As part of this process, CMA also worked to secure the support of Invest in Hackney and assisted with the presentation to the Hackney Design Review Panel.
