This new build, mixed use scheme comprises nearly 30,000 sqft of modern office space with seven residential units, over six floors. It is located just off the Kingsland Road, facing onto the Regents Canal and was previously used as a record factory. It is also close to the new Haggerston tube station. The site falls within a Conservation Area and the design, height and scale of the proposal was a key consideration during the application. Other key issues included the relationship with the canal and adjoining sites, ecology, sustainability provision and sunlight / daylight impacts. Following a pre-application submission, CMA Planning secured planning approval from the London Borough of Hackney in July 2009. As part of the process, CMA also liaised and consulted with British Waterways and Invest in Hackney to address any concerns raised and secure their support for the scheme, as well as negotiating with Planning and Design Officers from the Council.
