Who For: Scape

What: 8,400 sqm educational floorspace (280 student rooms)

Architect: Allford Hall Monaghan Morris

Scape Greenwich opened in September 2013 and is located on the Greenwich Peninsular, a short walk from the O2 Arena and Ravensbourne University. It boasts a campus feel with large multiuse spaces, striking design, loftstyle apartments and ideal location. Scape Greenwich offers 280 luxurious studios, with all rooms coming with a fully equipped kitchenette, a comfortable double bed with built-in storage, an ensuite shower room and a window seat with views. The open plan building, courtyard gardens and busy communal areas give students lots of opportunities to socialise, whilst large picture windows create bright, natural light as they pan across the entire building. The bright white concrete exterior is offset by the colourful hues characteristic to Scape, which cover the halls and features of every room. CMA Planning acted as strategic planning advisors on this project, following on from the previous approvals they secured for Scape at Mile End and Old Street, advising on approach and strategy. The Royal Borough of Greenwich approved the proposal in July 2012. The building was then shortlisted for the 2014 New London Architecture Awards, the 2014 Housing Design Awards and the 2015 RIBA London awards.
