CMA Planning secured approval for this project from the London Borough of Hackney in August 2007. The site comprised an existing office building and a surface level car park, located within the City Fringe, in Shoreditch. The proposal consisted of two buildings, which would contain new office accommodation, a small retail / café / restaurant unit at ground level and nine high quality apartments. The development is a high-quality, innovative mixed-use scheme which will deliver investment, environmental improvements and regeneration to the area. Key issues that were addressed as part of the application included the principle of the use, the design and appearance of the proposed development, the potential impact on the amenity of residents, traffic and transport considerations as well as comments made by objectors. CMA Planning represented the client throughout the planning process, coordinating the professional team, advising on options and strategy, producing the planning application documentation and working with the team to prepare other supporting studies. CMA conducted detailed discussions with the Council’s Development Control and Urban Design teams, to ensure the project reached its successful conclusion. CMA Planning successfully renewed the consent in May 2011, and then secured permission for revised proposals comprising a 213 bed hotel in 2013.
