The scheme involves two linked sites which together are known as the Deptford Southern Sites, and form part of a joint venture with the Council. The other site, Amersham Vale, contains 120 new homes and a new park. Frankham Street was also a residential development, of 209 new homes, located in the centre of Deptford.
The scheme has three main elements, new build blocks of flats ranging in height from four to six storeys, the retention and conversion of the Victorian former Tidemill School Buildings, and the provision of major new public realm spaces. The former School Buildings are typical of their period and type, and whilst not being statutory listed, did make a positive contribution and there was a desire to see them retained. CMA worked with the team to ensure there was flexibility when it came to the various standards, to allow for their conversion to flats.
CMA Planning led the planning process, carrying out pre-application discussions and liaising with Lewisham Council and the GLA. Following on from this, planning permission was secured in July 2018. A Judicial Review was then launched by objectors, which was defeated in January 2019. CMA then worked on various amendments to the project.
