This scheme involves the partial refurbishment and partial redevelopment of the Carlton and Granville Centres in South Kilburn. The site sits at the heart of the South Kilburn Masterplan, a wider area which will undergo significant regeneration and provision of new housing. Located opposite South Kilburn Open Space, the site is currently home to a variety of community users and provides event space, workspace, a children’s centre and nursery.
Working with Adam Khan Architects, CMA Planning advised the London Borough of Brent throughout the planning process on a scheme which will refurbish and expand the community spaces on the site to will serve the South Kilburn Masterplan area and beyond. The project also includes 18 new affordable homes. The scheme combines modern buildings with a sensitive refurbishment of the most significant existing historic buildings on the site to provide flexible space for use by the community. Improved outdoor space and landscaping will include a community garden, new routes through the site and a central courtyard space.
Planning permission was secured in January 2020. The scheme also secured a NLA Award in 2019 in the mixed use category.
