A key part of the work CMA Planning undertakes is advising clients on the planning issues at the site acquisition stage. For the Greenwich Creekside project CMA advised Telford Homes as part of their due diligence before they purchased the site. At the time of acquisition, the land owner was pursuing their own application for the proposals for this major regeneration scheme, located next to the Laban Dance Centre in Deptford. CMA Planning undertook a detailed review of the proposals and planning position, meeting with the existing professional team, reviewing the scheme, carrying our research in terms of the planning history, planning policy position and reporting to Telford Homes. Specific advice was given in terms of likely outcomes, timescale and the possible scope of Section 106 clauses and costs. Planning Permission was granted by the London Borough of Greenwich in 2007. CMA Planning then provided further advice post approval, including securing approval for change of use of part of the commercial space for a gym in July 2011 and for another element of the commercial space to a 101 bed hotel in March 2012.
